Ariel's image as the little red headed princess/mermaid has been a cultural icon image for the past 30 years. It's the look associated with that character… from toys, merchandise, spinoffs, etc..
And how it's been integrated into the hearts and minds of the Disney fans both old and new. That's what really bums me out about this whole thing. "That look" was just so iconic in the world of Disney.
