Clark Yarbrough, a senior defensive lineman at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkansas, has died following a “sudden collapse.” Yarbrough was 21 years old.
Ouachita Baptist University, home to the Tigers, a Division II football program, took to Twitter on Sunday to announce the tragic news.
“Today the Ouachita community mourns the loss of senior Clark Yarbrough, who died this morning following a sudden collapse,” the school wrote. “Join us in praying for his family and friends. More information about campus gatherings following this tragedy will be released soon.”
Yarbrough’s official cause of death is unknown at this time.
The news arrives just three days after Yarbrough, a 6-foot-1, 280-pound defensive lineman, recorded two tackles in Ouachita Baptist’s season-opening 42-32 win over Oklahoma Baptist on Thursday night. The victory marked Ouachita’s 15th straight win in a season opener.
A native of Rowlett, Texas, Yarbrough played at Sachse (Texas) High School, before attending Ouachita Baptist. In 2021, Yarbrough received an honorable mention in the All-Great American Conference, finishing the season with 27 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and one quarterback hurry.
