Parkland Survivor David Hogg Has Been Accepted Into Harvard

Written by on December 23, 2018

David Hogg, Parkland shooting survivor and gun control activist, announced that he will be attending Harvard University in the Fall.

Hogg, a graduate of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, where 17 students were shot and killed in February, tweeted the good news on Saturday. “Thank you all for the well wishes,” Hogg wrote. “I’ll be attending Harvard in the fall with a planned major in Political Science.”

Since surviving the attack, Hogg went on to co-found Never Again MSD, a group that advocates for tougher gun control laws. He was one of the organizers of March for Our Lives, which prompted nearly 800,000 activists and anti-gun protestors to march in D.C.

However, Hogg’s acceptance doesn’t come without a certain degree of irony. In March Hogg shared his rejection letters from four California universities, and explained that he was surprised given he was a co-founder of an organization that was changing lives. Following the news of his rejections, Fox News commentator Laura Ingraham took to Twitter to mock Hogg by accusing him of whining, and citing a conservative website, which called him a “Gun Rights Provocateur.”

Hogg responded to Ingraham’s malice by tweeting a list of her advertisers, calling for his followers to boycott. The move prompted nearly a dozen companies to pull their advertisements, which subsequently pressured Ingraham to issue an apology.

Hogg refused to accept Ingraham’s apology, and rather than mentioning her during his Harvard announcement, he let his acceptance speak for itself.
