People Clown Ted Cruz After He Criticized Big Bird for Getting Vaccinated

Ted Cruz has once again become a punching bag on social media after he criticized Big Bird (yes, the iconic Sesame Street character) for getting the COVID-19 vaccine, labeling the act “Government propaganda.”
Bird Bird, or at least the person who runs the fictional character’s account, took to Twitter on Saturday to announce that he’d gotten the shot, which is now available for American children between the ages of 5 and 11.
“I got the COVID-19 vaccine today!” Big Bird wrote on his official Twitter account. “My wing is feeling a little sore, but it’ll give my body an extra protective boost that keeps me and others healthy.”
Within hours, Cruz responded to the tweet, writing, “Government propaganda…for your 5 year old!”
Meanwhile, President Joe Biden applauded Big Bird for his decision, writing, “Good on ya, @BigBird. Getting vaccinated is the best way to keep your whole neighborhood safe.”
As ridiculous as it seems that Cruz is concerned with the vaccination status of a fictional yellow bird, it’s hardly surprising given the Texas senator has a track record of inserting himself into pop culture conversations.
As expected, Cruz was appropriately clowned and slammed for calling out a giant yellow bird who’s more beloved than he’ll ever be.
One person who came after him was Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane.
“No surprise Big Bird is smarter than Ted Cruz. So is Kermit, Ernie, Bert, Grover, Oscar, Cookie Monster, The Count, Mr. Snuffleupagus, Fozzie, Miss Piggy, Rowlf, Dr. Teeth, The Swedish Chef, Scooter, Janice, Gonzo, Dr. Bunsen Honeydew, Beaker, and Animal,” he tweeted.
Cruz caught wind of the tweet and wrote that he’s sorry to see MacFarlane “shilling for petty authoritarians who would deny you the right to make your own medical choices.”
