Pete Davidson Parodies a Drake Song for ‘SNL’s ‘At Home’ Episode

Written by on April 12, 2020

After nearly a month-long hiatus, Saturday Night Live has made its return. Because of the coronavirus, this week’s installment was the show’s first-ever remote episode with cast members performing sketches from their home. This new format prompted Pete Davidson to get creative and create a sketch about the way Drake is handling the pandemic.

Drizzy’s response to being confined to his home was to showcase his massive Toronto estate. For the “Toosie Slide” video, Drake dances around The Embassy, showing some of the home’s elaborate features. Davidson decided to do the same, but from his room in his mom’s basement.

Like the “Toosie Slide” video, Davidson wears a coat and other winter gear as he roams through his basement. He also toys with the Midas Touch Drake seems to have when it comes to releasing singles.

“This is a Drake song/I miss my ex, this is a Drake song,” Davidson sings during the chorus. “Number 1 on the Billboard, number 1 on the Billboard.”

The “Saturday Night Live At Home” episode was hosted by coronavirus survivor, Tom Hanks

“It’s good to be here, but it’s also weird to be here hosting Saturday Night Live from home,” Hanks said during the opening monologue. “It is a strange time to try and be funny, but trying to be funny is SNL’s whole thing, so what the heck, let’s give it a shot.” He then went on to touch on his diagnosis.

“But, why me as host? Well, for one, I have been the celebrity canary in the coal mine for the coronavirus,” he continued. “I first was diagnosed back in March for the coronavirus. I was first diagnosed down in Australia. … But now my wife and I are doing fine.”

Along with Tom Hanks, Coldplay’s Chris Martin served as the show’s musical guest.
