Playstation shared the first trailer for The Last of Us II during their State of Play address today.
The game follows Ellie as she attempts to exact revenge on antagonists from the critically adored game. As director Neil Druckmann shared on Playstation’s blog, the much-anticipated sequel was a labor of love that took half a decade to create.
“We spent years crafting a game that we feel will do them justice, telling a nuanced story that deals with the core question: how far would you go to exact justice against the people that hurt the ones you love? It’s a highly emotional story with complex themes that befit the world of The Last of Us,” he said before calling the game the most ambitious effort in Naughty Dog’s history. “To tell this kind of story the game needed to be massive… [The trailer] just scratches the surface of what the game has in store.”
Needless to say, fans were overwhelmed by the new trailer for Last of Us II.
That game is due out on February 21 for Playstation 4. Elsewhere in the update, Playstation shared that they are bringing Civilization VI to their platform on November 22. They shared a demo of their update of PS1’s MediEvil and announced a new game called Humanity. Check that trailer out below.
