Police Arrest 2 Men in Connection With Murder of Journalist Lyra McKee

Two men have been arrested by Northern Ireland police in connection with the recent murder of journalist Lyra McKee.
The men are 18 and 19, respectively, and were taken in under the terrorism act, per CNN. The Police Service of Northern Ireland said Saturday that the men have been transported to a station in central Belfast. Additionally, investigators are looking into whether the two men “acted with others.”
“I’ve just come from a very difficult meeting with Lyra McKee’s family and her partner and, as you can imagine, they are absolutely devastated,” Detective Superintendent Jason Murphy told reporters Saturday when announcing the arrests. “Lyra’s family have a lot of questions, and I answered as many for them as I can at this stage but I need more help from the community to answer all their questions and to bring those who killed Lyra to justice.”
Authorities believe McKee, an Atlantic and BuzzFeed News journalist who was fatally shot in the Creggan area of Derry on April 18, was “murdered by terrorists.” Specifically, Murphy said Saturday, he believes the attackers are “members of the new IRA.”
Police are now calling for anyone who was in the vicinity of the shooting, where McKee and many others had their phones out, please come forward if they have any relevant footage or information.
