Police Arrest Man Accused of Making Bomb Threat At Doja Cat Concert

Written by on January 9, 2022

A Doja Cat fan was arrested Saturday night after he allegedly made a bomb threat outside the rapper’s concert in Indianapolis.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the incident took place around 5 p.m. local time in the security line for AT&T’s Playoff Playlist Live! at Monument Circle, a concert area downtown which hosted the free outdoors show in support of Monday’s College Football Playoff National Championship.

“A fan wanted to advance in line so he exercised very poor judgment and told those around him in line he had a bomb in his backpack,” a Deputy Police Chief told the IndyStar.  “Someone did the right thing and alerted IMPD. The backpack was clean.”

IMPD confirmed the false alarm in a statement on Twitter. “IMPD officers responded, searched his bag and did not find an explosive,” the department tweeted. “The man had unrelated outstanding warrants and was immediately arrested for those.”

Saturday’s concert marked Doja Cat’s return to the stage after she pulled out of last month’s iHeartRadio Jingle Bell Ball Tour after testing positive for COVID-19.

“Unfortunately, I’m sad to share that I just tested positive as well and will no longer be able to perform on the rest of the [tour],” Doja wrote on Twitter. “While my spirits are down since I can’t be there to celebrate the holiday with my fans in Philly, DC, Atlanta and Miami, I’m doing OK and look forward to recovering and getting back out there as soon as I can! The rest of the tour stops have some really great lineups, wish I could be there.”
