Police Encourage Residents to Snitch on Their Exes for Valentine’s Day

Written by on February 4, 2022

Georgia law enforcement is asking residents to turn in their exes for Valentine’s Day.

The tongue-in-cheek request was issued on the Rockmart Police Department’s official Facebook page. The message, which has since garnered hundreds of likes and shares, was posted Wednesday along with a photo of a rose next to a pair of handcuffs.

“Do you have an ex-Valentine and know they have outstanding warrants?” the message reads. “Do you have information that they are driving with drugs in their car? Give us a call with their location and we’ll take care of the rest.”

The post goes on to describe its “Valentine’s Day Month-Long Special,” which includes “a set of limited-edition platinum bracelets, free transportation with a chauffeur, a one-night minimum stay in luxurious ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ accommodations and professional glamour shots that will be posted on online for all to enjoy.”

The Rockmart police admits it got idea from North Carolina’s Nash County Sheriff’s Office, which posted a nearly verbatim request back in 2021.

“We copied this from a Sheriff in eastern NC. Seems like an excellent program to us!” the Rockmart PD continued. “(Laugh all you want, but someone reading this is about to call us and give someone up!)”

Other police departments that were inspired by the Nash County post include the Lake Arthur PD in Louisiana, the Somerset PD in Massachusetts, and the Fort Walton Beach PD in Florida.
