Police Grant 93-Year-Old Woman’s Dying Wish of Being ‘Arrested for Something’

A 93-year-old woman whose “dying wish” was to experience an arrest, of all things, was granted by police.
Greater Manchester police detailed their side of this wish fulfillment endeavor, per The Guardian, in a statement in which the description “slightly unusual” was used to describe the initial inquiry received from Josie Birds’ granddaughter.
“On this occasion, and for a short period of time, we were able to fulfill the wishes of an elderly lady, and give her a day to remember,” Chief Insp. Denise Pye, of the department’s City of Manchester division, said. “We can reassure the rest of the community that while this was happening, officers from across the area were continuing with their duties to ensure this short visit had no impact whatsoever on the wider area.”
As of Tuesday, Birds was said to “still be talking about” the faux arrest, at least according to some follow-up comments in connection with the granddaughter’s viral tweet above.
In semi-related news of the Dying Wish variety, let’s not forget the flipped 2017 edition in which the bucket list item of an Ohio teen diagnosed with leukemia of being able to tase a cop was honored. “It’s painful, but given her situation, it’s a no-brainer,” cops said at the time of granting Alyssa Elkins’ wish.
