Authorities are searching for the woman who is suspected of running down a pedestrian and fleeing the scene in North Carolina.
The Wilmington Police Department say Cortnay Danielle Lawrence was captured on surveillance last week carrying out an intentional hit-and-run that targeted her ex-boyfriend and a woman. Footage shows Lawrence’s vehicle approaching the two individuals as they walked down a street before striking Christina Benson. The man in the video dodged the car and fled on foot.
“I thought, for sure, this person would be like, ‘Oh my god, I lost control. I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to hit you. This looks crazy. Can I help you?’ No,” Benson told WWAY-TV. “She pulled up beside me and slammed on the brakes and said, ‘Where did he go?’ And I was like, ‘I don’t know.'”
Benson told the outlet she sustained a mild concussion as well as scratches on her arms, shoulder, and head.
Law enforcement identified Lawrence after she went to social media to post a picture of herself next to the damaged car. She is now wanted for assault with a deadly weapon, hit and run failure to give info, and driving without a license.
