Post Malone’s ‘Hollywood’s Bleeding’ Returns to No. 1 on Billboard 200

Written by on October 28, 2019

Post Malone is back on top of the Billboard 200 with his third studio effort Hollywood’s Bleeding, making it the first album this year to spend four non-consecutive weeks at No. 1. Hollywood’s Bleeding has also appeared atop the Billboard 200 more times than any of his previous albums, surpassing the old mark of three weeks held by 2018’s beerbongs & bentleys

Posty took advantage of what turned out to be a light week in terms of releases. The 93,000 equivalent album units earned this week by Hollywood’s Bleeding was more than enough to hold off last week’s No. 1 AI Youngboy 2 from YoungBoy Never Broke Again, which amassed 80,000 units in its second week. A return to the No. 1 spot seemed like a foregone conclusion for Hollywood after finding itself in the top three over the last few weeks.

It’s an encouraging response for Post, who was well aware of how Hollywood became a balancing act where he tried to reward his diehard fans while also finding pockets that would allow him to incorporate his own musical interests and sounds.

“I’m making things work in a way that I don’t want to alienate fans of my music but at the same time I want to do something weird and funky,” Malone said in an interview with Zane Lowe. “I think this record, the new record is something super epic and I think it’s really cool. I think I’m really catching a groove and just giving the best I can.”
