Premiere: BAELY Immerses Himself In An Escapist Romance In “Teleport” Video

Written by on August 11, 2022

All-consuming romances are, not surprisingly, an endless source of inspiration for songwriters like R&B maestro BAELY. They can be toxic, sure, but that’s not always the case. Sometimes, and in the case of his new single “Teleport”, they can be an escape to something better.

Backed by an instrumental that combines electro-R&B sleekness with neo-soul and a touch of jazz, he wrote and recorded much of the track out in L.A. where he met producer Matthew Suggett of SOULECTION fame, before roping in Reuben James and Ben Carr (aka CARRTOONS) to help him finish it off.

Directed and edited by Charlie Rees, the grainy, lo-fi visuals almost feel like a honeymoon video; intimate and fleeting, they chart the different facets of BAELY’s new love, for better or worse, and everything that comes with it.

“It’s about finding that one special person you just want to escape with and leave everything behind—the kind of love that you want to get lost in because with that person, everything seems complete,” he explains. “I wanted to explore multiple dynamics of love and relationships within the track—the romantic aspects, the annoying aspects, the physical side, the adventurous side, etc and encapsulate it within a story of how incredible it would be to be able to teleport to the most remote part of Earth and enjoy the little micro-world you’ve built together.”

Hit play on the video up top and then make sure you add “Teleport” to your playlists.
