Premiere: Emerging R&B Singer KABBA Shares Booming, Bass-Heavy “Glue”
Written by SOURCE on July 24, 2019
At the top of this month, South East London R&B talent KABBA, real name Aminata Jamieson, announced that she would be releasing her debut self-titled EP produced by friend and collaborator MNEK. Although it’s her debut, Jamieson has been working in the industry for a few years now; before she was KABBA, she went by the name A*M*E and in 2013 found herself nominated for the BBC’s Sound Of… poll.
Now she’s back to present one of the tracks from the EP, “Glue” (out July 26), a bass-heavy pop banger led by Jamieson’s extensive vocal range and infectious tone as she channels her Sierra Leonean heritage into the dance-pop structure. In an Instagram post, Jamieson explained: “KABBA is a Sierra Leonean name and part of my identity that is so precious to me. Now that I’m entering a new phase in my career, I’m free
to fully embrace KABBA.”
