After kicking off the year with her “Moneymoney” track, Seattle’s EMI has shared the official video for her new single “Use 2 Be.”
The €¥€$-directed visual starts out with EMI inside a dark warehouse singing to the camera. At first, it seems like the video will take the straightforward approach, relying solely on lighting effects and close-up shots of EMI. But, as the video continues, you start to get some Hostel vibes.
We see the singer-songwriter begin to browse through some rusty weapons and proceed to tie up an unidentified individual. EMI then gets stab happy, and leaves her victim in a pool of blood.
“The video for ‘Use 2 Be’ is a visual representation for the frustration I feel towards the people I let close to me, who choose to disrespect me,” she explained. “With the type of life I live, a lot of people can’t keep up and many don’t stick around for long. That shit hurts. I called on €¥€$ to do this video in particular because after seeing his other work, I felt he possessed both the depth and creative darkness needed to accurately portray my emotions.”
