Premiere: Miller Blue Reflects On A Former Relationship With “Sunflower”

Written by on April 29, 2020

Break-ups are never pleasant, often traumatic, but with time comes healing and, most importantly, perspective. That’s the theme of Miller Blue‘s emotionally-charged new single “Sunflower” (taken from his impending EP of the same name).

Over a smooth, almost acid jazz-styled instrumentation (taking much inspiration from heart-melters like Frank Ocean and Chet Faker), the London-based crooner’s voice swoops and soars as he looks back at the relationship and the partner he’s left behind. As wounds heal and passions calm he’s left with something much healthier. In the end all he really wants is for his former love to find the same closure and ultimately a better life.

Speaking with Complex via email, Miller told us: “For me, writing ‘Sunflower’ acted as an ode to my last relationship. A reflection on the good and the bad. A piece to say that I hope everything is working out just fine for her and that although the process took me a long time to fully understand, ultimately I know that we helped each other grow to where we needed to be at that point in our lives and for that I am forever grateful.”
