Premiere: Youth Worker, Activist And Rhymer Rippa Is A Man On A Mission In
Written by SOURCE on November 9, 2022
The road to Rippa’s current burgeoning success has been a long and storied one (quite literally, as it happens). The young MC has been under the wing of Ciaran Thapar for just shy of a decade now and they’ve been through a lot together—so much so that Ciaran made Rippa the main character in his book, Cut Short: Why We’re Failing Our Youth – And How to Fix It.
Since then Rippa’s become an activist and youth worker himself, while still pushing his music forward. To that end, he’s dropping off visuals for his latest single “My Bag”, combining straight-talking rhymes with a half-sung-half-rapped hook about swatting away distractions on the way to success.
It also comes with a fresh visual from Ray Fiasco who tracks Rippa around the block, taking phone calls and moving with purpose, from his home to the studio and back again, without time for much else in between.
This is Rippa’s second-ever single, following “Flows” earlier this year, and the latest to be heard from Rippa’s upcoming debut EP Night Time Walk, which drops on December 2. Both tracks were produced by Toddla T, who Rippa’s been working closely with in the studio for the past couple of years.
While we wait to hear more of the EP, hit play on new video above and then make sure you add “My Bag” to all your playlists.
