Fresh off the release of his latest album, It’s Almost Dry, Pusha-T stopped by SiriusXM’s Shade45 show, where he opened up about the feud between Kanye West and Kid Cudi.
During the conversation, Pusha-T discussed what it was like working with Ye and Cudi on “Rock N Roll,” a standout track from the Virginia rapper’s latest full-length offering.
When asked if he could help repair Kanye and Cudi’s relationship, Push replied, “I think right now, I’m going to just let them have their space. You couldn’t even imagine the amount of talking I had to do just in regard to getting the record [“Rock N Roll”] for the album cleared.”
He continued, “Cudi is definitely very strong-willed. He’s standing on what he’s standing on…He’s always been the one to stand next to me. Regardless of what’s going on, whatever…It’s always been like that.”
Pusha-T went on to share details about how the three rappers got together during the pandemic to record “Rock N Roll.”
“I just remember that day so vividly,” he explained. “It was so good…Ye started chopping the Beyonce sample. Cudi just pops in; I hadn’t seen Cudi in a long time, Ye hadn’t seen Cudi in a long time…Cudi came in and killed it. He did five versions of the hook.”
As far as Push is concerned, he believes that Ye and Cudi will reconcile at some point. “Brothers fight,” he said. “Hopefully we can all figure it out, though.”
A few days before It’s Almost Dry dropped, Cudi took to Twitter to address “Rock N Roll,” revealing it was actually completed “a year ago” and will stand as the “last song” fans will ever hear featuring both Kids See Ghosts collaborators.
“I did this song a year ago when I was still cool w Kanye,” Cudi tweeted. “I am not cool w that man. He’s not my friend and I only cleared the song for Pusha cuz thats my guy. This is the last song u will hear me on w Kanye.”
Elsewhere in Pusha’s interview with SiriusXM, he shared details about what it was like working with Jay-Z on their It’s Almost Dry collaboration “Neck & Wrist.” Check out the clip below.
