Written by on August 25, 2022

Flint, Michigan rapper Cliff Mac, real name Clifton E. Terry III, has been charged for allegedly paying a man $10,000 to kill a woman.

As revealed in a statement from the Eastern District of Michigan Attorney’s Office, a federal grand jury issued an indictment charging the 31-year-old with murder-for-hire resulting in personal injury, conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire resulting in personal injury, and using a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.

25-year-old Andre D. Sims, who is the alleged hitman, was indicted for his role in the attempted assassination earlier this year.

Mac allegedly hired Sims in November 2020 to kill an unnamed woman, whom he later shot at between seven and eight times when she left her home. The entirety of the incident was recorded on the woman’s home security system. Despite suffering from several gunshot wounds, the woman survived the attempted hit. Mac agreed to pay $2,500 for the failed assassination. He has also since been charged with first-degree murder for his alleged role in the 2021 killing of Devaroe Davis.

Sims has been sentenced to life in prison due to his role in the death of a 65-year-old woman. Mac, meanwhile, is facing a maximum possible sentence of 20 years in prison in the murder-for-hire plot, and could also get a fine of up to $250,000. The weapons and aiding and abetting charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years and a maximum of life in prison.
