Read Todd Phillips and Scott Silver’s Final Version of ‘Joker’ Script

Written by on December 27, 2019

Todd Phillips’ Joker has captivated audiences. Warner Bros. and Joaquin Phoenix were able to turn the screenplay written by Phillips and Scott Silver into a critically acclaimed commercial success. Now, the fans can further immerse themselves in this dark world by reading the film’s screenplay.

There have been versions of the script floating around the internet for a while, but the good people over at Deadline were able to get their hands on the final version. Silver and Phillips dive deep into the psyche of Arthur Fleck and how the world turned him into Batman’s nemesis. It also goes against the big-budget, bright-lit, theme that normally follows the superhero genre. Instead, the film feels like an independent production despite being backed by Warner Bros. This allowed them to take twists and turns with the screenplay.

“We purposely set out to leave some things vague and unanswered,” Phillips explained. “That was a clear intent from the beginning.”

The movie went on to earn more than $1 billion at the world box office. It is now more than a dark horse to bring home trophies this award season as it has already been nominated for four Golden Globe awards. Read the final version of Todd Phillips and Scott Silver’s Joker script here

Joker, which was released to theaters back on October 4, also starred Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Douglas Hodge, Dante Pereira-Olson, and Brian Tyree Henry.
