Redskins Sign One of the Wide Receivers That Colin Kaepernick Used in His NFL Workout

It seems like the NFL and its team owners are just collectively trolling Colin Kaepernick at this point.

On Wednesday, the Washington Redskins announced that Jordan Veasy, one of the wide receivers that caught Kaepernick’s passes during his workout in Georgia last month, has been signed to the team’s practice squad.  

Washington was among the reported seven teams that saw Kaepernick’s workout in person despite the last-minute change of venue and location. The other organizations were the Detroit Lions, Kansas City Chiefs, New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers, and Tennessee Titans. Veasy caught the eye of team reps when he hauled in an effortless, perfectly placed 50-yard bomb from Kaep.  

Teams left Kaep’s NFL workout more impressed with Veasy than the man that they all came to see. 

Veasy arrived at Kaepernick’s NFL workout with the same goal as his quarterback. He just wanted another chance to show the league what he has to offer after getting released from the Buffalo Bills’ practice squad weeks earlier.

Veasy reached out to Kaepernick’s agent upon discovering that this unusual workout initially proposed by the NFL would be taking place. Their familiarity with one another was limited to the two taking a black representation in popular culture class together a few years ago at the University of California. It was a hope and a prayer to even get the opportunity to haul in Kaep’s passes, but it worked. 

“It helped,” Veasy told the Washington Post. “That’s one of the reasons I wanted to be a part of it. Just being a part of the history of it, and I knew it was going to help me.” The Redskins inked the 2018 undrafted wideout to a practice squad deal without having go through an additional workout.
