The first release from the three-strong Nike BSMNT Air Max 90 City Pack is set to hit the streets imminently, putting the spotlight on Glasgow.
Back in 2017, London-based creative community The Basement widened their scope and set the pace with their first Nike collaboration in the form of the Nike BSMNT Dunk Low. The collaborative release was met with huge success, with stock of the multi-fabrication, black on black banger flying out. Fast forward to 2019 and The Basement is back at the helm of The Swoosh to take things a step further with the Nike BSMNT Air Max 90 City Pack.
Taking three of the UK’s most iconic cities – Glasgow, Manchester, and London – the project encapsulates the thriving community that keeps the group at the forefront of creative culture, all the while highlighting their ‘Real People Do Real Things’ ethos. First up on the release schedule is a Glasgow themed silhouette, created as a celebration of the cities rebellious, joyous, forward-thinking community as they continue to defy expectations. Built on a deep, slate-like grey heavyweight ripstop base, the Glasgow edition of the Air Max 90 is tooled up to face Scotland’s inclement weather head-on. The real talking point on this silhouette is a bold, safety orange leather tongue, inspired by iconic traffic cone that sits upon the head of the Duke Of Wellington’s statue in Glasgow’s city centre, further referenced by playful insole graphics. Further details arrive courtesy of a reflective medial Swoosh, outsole typography, and a co-branded tongue stamp.
