Ricky Gervais Asked to Choose Between UK and U.S. Versions of ‘The Office’

The debate between the British The Office and the American version has raged on for years.
But there’s perhaps no better authority on either than Ricky Gervais, who joined The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday, where he was asked to pick between the two.
It all went down during a game called “Ricky Gervais Settles It,” where the actor was asked to choose between things like calling or texting, or his favorite version of James Bond.
Once Gervais reached the ultimate question of which he would choose between the British and American Office, the mastermind behind the hit franchise gave his honest answer, albeit with a fair caveat.
“Well, I thought the British Office was the best, but my accountant assures me that it’s the American Office,” the actor said at the end of the segment, which begins around the 4:53- mark of the video above.
This wasn’t the first time Gervais has joked about how much money the American Office has earned him despite being the star of the UK version that ran for only two seasons. As British outlet Joe pointed out, while joining The Office Deep Dive podcast, he yet again hilariously responded to claims that the American version of the sitcom is better.
“I remember once, after syndication, someone on Twitter sent me a tweet that said ‘The American version of The Office is so much bigger and better than yours. How does that make you feel?’ Fucking rich,” he said on the show.
Watch Ricky Gervais give his two cents above.
