Ricky Gervais Goes After Leonardo DiCaprio, Jeffrey Epstein in Fiery Golden Globes Monolog

Written by on January 6, 2020

Ricky Gervais started his opening monologue at this year’s Golden Globes by letting the crowd know “you’ll be pleased to know this is the last time I’m hosting these awards.” It could’ve been received as Gervais stating a fact, but it should have probably come across as a warning that he was going to come out swinging like never before. Now, let’s see how Tom Hanks perfectly summed up pretty much all of Hollywood’s response to Ricky’s biting jokes.

What did Gervais do to warrant that type of reaction out of Hanks? Well, he started by chastising the people for even trying to use their time onstage to express their political stances.

He also dropped a Jeffrey Epstein joke.

Then he skewered Apple’s new streaming service with a dash of ISIS humor.

He also accused the HFPA, the critical body behind the Golden Globe Awards, of being racist, made a joke about Leo DiCaprio’s affinity for young women, and the hits kept coming.

Here’s how people reacted to Gervais’ jaw-dropping monologue.
