Rihanna Continues Relentlessly Teasing New Album
Written by SOURCE on January 7, 2019
This year is indeed bringing us the first new collection of Rihanna music since 2016’s excellent Anti.
And though this particular teaser doesn’t actually include much in the way of actual teased music, it’s cause enough for celebration. Over the weekend, Rihanna seemingly fans a quick glimpse behind the curtain as sessions continue for her currently untitled album that may or may not include involvement from Supa Dups and Skrillex.
Rihanna announced a 2019 release window for the new album back in December. In response to a fan inquiry on a Fenty-related post, she confirmed only that “2019” would be the year. Shortly after, iHeartRadio hopped into the hype party with a blue check boost:
This year will also presumably include the release of the tentatively titled Guava Island, a new film from “This Is America” and Atlanta director Hiro Murai starring Donald Glover and Rihanna. Aside from the few details that emerged thanks to a PHAROS attendee, not much is known about the production, including whether it’s actually a Donald Glover project or another cinematic entry within the Gambino canon.
Anyway, I can’t let this wrap without once again mentioning the raw magic of Rihanna’s Tame Impala cover. Here’s to hoping Kevin Parker comes through for some R9 sessions.
