Roddy Ricch has apparently stepped away from social media.
The Grammy-winning rapper took to Instagram on Saturday to share a snippet of an unreleased track called “Out of My Mind.” As pointed out by XXL, the audio featured Roddy handling the chorus, in which he sings: “I been low, I been high/I been out my body, out my mind/When you take my soul, take yo’ time.”
Though fans have been eager to hear a new solo track from the Compton rapper, many weren’t pleased by what Roddy had up sleeve. Several influencers and media figures reshared the snippet on their respective social media accounts, where fans expressed their disappointment and made claims about Roddy “falling off.”
“It ain’t horrible but needs work,” a user wrote on No Jumper’s post. “I hate to see an artist like him go down hill.”
“We don’t need this on God,” another commented, “keep it, I’m good.”
“It’s safe to say Roddy Ricch blew up before we could see his true potential,” one added.
Hours after sharing the snippet, Roddy returned to Instagram to acknowledge some of the backlash he received.
“Guess I’m a flop now [peace sign emoji],” he wrote in a store. “Shit crazy.”
The rapper’s Instagram and Twitter account were deactivated soon after.
Since then, a growing number of Twitter users have expressed their support for Roddy while condemning those who slammed his new work.
Roddy previously announced he had big plans for 2022, including the release of his much-anticipated mixtape Feed Tha Streets III. The effort was expected to be his first full-length project since last year’s Live Life Fast.
