The numbers are in for several new releases, including French Montana’s Montana, Roddy Ricch‘s Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial, and Juice WRLD‘s Death Race For Love.
For starters, Roddy Ricch’s Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial landed at the top spot on the Billboard 200, with 100,902 equivalent album units earned. Just 2,487 of those copies were pure sales.
The rapper has been having a great year, including three Grammy nominations for his work on his late friend Nipsey Hussle’s “Racks in the Middle” and Mustard’s “Ballin.” He told the Los Angeles Times in a recent interview how it felt to be nominated for the music industry’s top prize.
“I don’t really know, but it’s a blessing, really, that the Grammys would even consider our writing abilities in the song to be among the greatest in the game,” he said. “I just know that I’m supposed to be here, because if I wasn’t I wouldn’t be. I feel like my mom’s prayers worked.”
Meanwhile, Juice WRLD’s debut studio album Goodbye & Good Riddance soared on the chart with 70,335 copies sold, good enough for fifth.
Juice WRLD’s death caused a spike in his streaming numbers, as the late artist received 38.2 million streams across America this week alone. Fans gave his tracks 24 million more plays than any other artist out right now with a nearly 487 percent surge.
French Montana’s Montana debuted at 25, with a disappointing 24,523 copies moved, and 5,510 copies from pure sales.
Montana was hospitalized recently for severe stomach issues and an elevated heart rate before dropping the new project. “You know, life come at you sometimes, get you down to your knees. That’s what happened when you try to be too much of a rock star on your birthday,” the rapper told Zane Lowe about his health scare. “I turned up so much I ended up in the ICU. Damn, for real. I went to like four different countries in like six days. Saudi, Egypt, Morocco, and like somewhere else. I ended up in my house. The rock star got a story to tell his kids.”
