Rolling Loud Hong Kong Has Been Canceled Over Security Concerns

Written by on October 16, 2019

Rolling Loud Hong Kong, which was scheduled to go down October 19-20, has been canceled due to security concerns, Pollstar reports.

“After consulting with security experts, it has been determined that it is not possible to organize the upcoming Rolling Loud Hong Kong edition as we had hoped without endangering the safety and well-being of our fans, artists, and staff,” a statement addressing the cancelation said. “While we regret having to cancel the festival, this is not a decision that has been taken lightly and we look forward to bringing the Rolling Loud festival experience to Hong Kong in the future to celebrate the city’s rich culture and buzzing hip-hop music scene.”

Wiz Khalifa, Playboi Carti, Migos, Ski Mask the Slump God, Lil Skies, and others were scheduled to perform. This Rolling Loud iteration was the festivals first trip into Asia, coming in the same year that RL expanded to include New York City.

Refunds will be issued to those who purchased tickets for the festival. Questions about refunds can be sent to support@universe.com or info.LNEA@Livenation.asia.

Protests have been ongoing in Hong Kong for the last several months and began over a bill that would have allowed residents of the independent territory to be extradited to mainland China. Though the bill has been pulled, protests have continued.
