Ronnie Ortiz-Magro Won’t Face Felony Charges in Domestic Violence Case

Written by on October 24, 2019

Ronnie Ortiz-Magro is no longer facing a felony charge over his alleged altercation with Jen Harley.

According to TMZ, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office has deferred Ortiz-Magro’s domestic violence case to the City Attorney, which does not have the authority to issue a felony charge. The Jersey Shore star was arrested earlier this month when officers responded to a report about a physical altercation at Los Angeles Airbnb. Oritz-Magro, who was at the house with Harley and their 1-year-old daughter, was accused of punching his on-again, off-again girlfriend before chasing her with a knife and threatening to kill her.

When authorities arrived at the scene, Ortiz-Magro was reportedly uncooperative and combative, which prompted authorities to taser him. He was subsequently charged with felony kidnapping and felony domestic assault; the former charge was dropped less than a week ago.

Ortiz-Magro’s lawyer, Scott E. Leemon, denied initial reports about the incident, and revealed his team was conducting their own investigation.

“The reporting of the alleged incident relating to Ronnie Magro yesterday is based upon pure speculation and innuendo,” Leemon told Us Weekly in early October, shortly after his client’s arrest.

TMZ reports the City Attorney has yet to decide if it’ll charge Ortiz-Magro with a misdemeanor domestic assault charge, which carries a maximum sentence of one year in prison.

Stay tuned as more information about Ortiz-Magro’s case becomes available.
