Sacha Baron Cohen Shades Mark Zuckerberg at 2020 Golden Globes

Written by on January 6, 2020

Sacha Baron Cohen never misses an opportunity at slamming Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg. When introducing the video package for Jojo Rabbit at this year’s Golden Globes, Cohen read off a piece of paper, saying, “It’s the story of a child who spreads naughty propaganda and only has imaginary friends. His name is Mark Zuckerberg. Oh wait, this is an old intro for The Social Network.”

Cohen’s hatred for Zuckerberg goes back to his acceptance speech in November, after winning the International Leadership Award at the Anti-Defamation League’s Never is Now annual summit on Anti-Semitism and Hate. The 48-year-old actor spent much of his time blasting Zuck for his appearance, and arguing against parts of his speech where he defended Facebook as a medium for freedom of speech.

“This is not about limiting anyone’s free speech,” Cohen said. “This is about giving people, including some of the most reprehensible people on earth, the biggest platform in history to reach a third of the planet. Freedom of speech is not freedom of reach.”

This probably isn’t the last time Cohen goes after Zuck. After all, awards season is just getting underway.
