See How The Kingsman Agency Began in New Trailer for ‘The King’s Man’

The Kingsman movies make up one of the most unlikely franchises, successfully spinning multiple stories out of the stylish and silly stories of the freelance spies. The slick movies have gone on long enough that it’s time to dive into the why of the agency, going back to the origin of the group in a new World War I-set film.
The King’s Man brings back franchise stalwart Matthew Vaughn to direct and nabs a huge lead in Ralph Fiennes, who seems to set the ball rolling on the spy agency in the latest trailer. From the movie’s official synopsis, it appears that the prequel will show the agency being built as a direct response to WWI. It claims Fiennes is taking on “a collection of history’s worst tyrants and criminal masterminds” who “gather to plot a war to wipe out millions.”
Fans of the series are still waiting for the close-out of the original film’s trilogy and there’s still no word on when Kingsman 3 is dropping, but this historical detour should be enough to satisfy fans of the series. Vaughn meanwhile, has been hyping K3 since 2017.
“When we were writing [The Golden Circle], we were thinking about Kingsman 3 too,” Vaughn told Variety. “This is the bridge, if we can pull it off and get to make another one.”
