Amid the college bribery scandal that has implicated dozens of affluent families, Sephora has dropped its partnership with Instagram influencer Olivia Jade Giannulli, the 19-year-old daughter of Lori Loughlin. The Fuller House actress and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, were implicated in the FBI investigation referred to as “Operation Varsity Blues” for allegedly paying up to $500,000 to ensure that their daughters were admitted to the University of Southern California.
In light of the mounting allegations against Loughlin and her husband, beauty retailer Sephora confirmed the end of its partnership with their Instagram daughter in a statement to TMZ. “After careful review of recent developments, we have made the decision to end the Sephora Collection partnership with Olivia Jade, effective immediately,” a spokesperson for the beauty retailer explained.
Olivia has used her large social media following to publicize her partnership with Sephora in the past. The teen ultimately released the Olivia Jade x Sephora palette with the company, which she broadcasted on Instagram. “The olivia jade x sephora collection palette is officially being RESTOCKED tomorrow (1/18) at 12pm EST!!!” she wrote in January. “Sooo excited for you to get your hands on these highlighters if you missed it the first time around… they are unreal. link in my bio to purchase #ad#sephoracollection.”
Sephora isn’t the only company that Olivia has worked alongside since achieving internet fame. Her working relationship with Hewlett-Packard reportedly ended on Wednesday, per Variety. Giannulli has partnered with numerous brands whose target audiences include college students, such as Amazon, Smile Direct Club, Marc Jacobs Beauty, and more, and has incorporated her standing as a student into her online persona.
Prior to taking the palette off of its website, Sephora users reportedly found the product online and took it as an opportunity to criticize the influencer and leave one star reviews.
Loughlin’s business relationships have also deteriorated in light of the charges against her. Hallmark announced Thursday that it will be terminating its partnership with the Fuller House actress, adding that it wa “saddened” by the crimes she’s been accused of. Loughlin stars in the Hallmark channel show When Calls the Heart, which is currently in its sixth season.
