Seth Rogen Shares His Thoughts on the Oscars: ‘People Just Don’t Care’

Written by on February 10, 2022

Seth Rogen is back for more commentary on another awards show.

While speaking to Insider, Rogen talked about out the Oscars, saying that the need for people in the movie industry to celebrate each other in this way is a bit much.

“I don’t get why movie people care so much if other people care what awards we give ourselves,” Rogen said. “To me, maybe people just don’t care,” he continued. “I don’t care who wins the automobile awards. No other industry expects everyone to care about what awards they shower upon themselves. Maybe people just don’t care. Maybe they did for a while and they stopped caring. And why should they?”

According to Variety, the Academy made $131.9 million from the Oscars in 2020.

His latest comments follow remarks he made about the Emmy’s back in September, where he took aim at the awards show for hosting an indoor ceremony during a global pandemic.

“There is way too many of us in this little room! What are we doing? They said this was outdoors. It’s not. They lied to us,” the comedian and actor said while speaking at the show. “We’re in a hermetically sealed tent right now. I would not have come to this. Why is there a roof?”

Rogen was speaking to Inside about his new Lays potato chips commercial with Paul Rudd that will air during the Super Bowl on Feb. 13. The ad features the two actors enjoying a bag of chips together and looking back on their friendship.
