I was born & raised in Brooklyn NY . A lover of music from an early age, everything from movie soundtracks, a.m. radio pop, the great ladies of jazz and so much more. This love turned into a passion when I heard a mixed tape by a local popular DJ. From that moment forward I sought out all info I could find about being a DJ. I went to many parks, youth centers and anyplace where a DJ was playing music. My Aunt brought me my first setup in 1978 an thus began the evolution of this DJ.
I’M READY TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE ESSENCE. WHEN IT COMES TO MUSIC, IF IT’S COMFORTABLE FOR ME THEN IT’S SCREAMING LOUD FOR EVERYONE ELSE. Music always played a part in my life, from when I came home from school my brothers would be playing various albums and on the weekends my parents would find reasons to host a house-party with other family members.
DJ Dre describes himself as a DJ. Never afraid to go too deep, his musical selections are his own therapy. Having grown up on his father’s combination of funk music (George Clinton, Morris Day)… all which became infused with his own love for both R&B and Hip-Hop music, Andre' ended up with quite a mixed spectrum of musical influence from his earlier days while working with a DJ crew (Infinity Machine) from south side Jamaica Queens in New York.
Curt-B. I started DJ'ing back in 1979 with two house turntables and a borrowed mixer .little did I know my neighbor Michael Goodie of (the Infinity machine) already had a professional sound set and was making money with it. One day I saw Mike and Friends rolling the equipment down the street to the park and I said hey Mike you think I could come and hang out, but at 14 years old he had to get permission from my mother who said yes and I never looked back.
