‘Sicario 2’ Director Stefano Sollima in Talks to Helm Michael B. Jordan’s ‘Without Remorse’ Adaptation
Written by SOURCE on December 6, 2018
Variety reports that Sicario: Day of the Soldado director Stefano Sollima is “in talks” to get behind the camera for Without Remorse, starring Michael B. Jordan.
Based on the 1993 book written by Tom Clancy, Without Remorse is the origin story of John Clark, played by Jordan, as he attempts to combat a growing drug ring following his return from the Vietnam War. Clark ends up coming into contact with Baltimore detective Emmet Ryan, father of Jack, who is serving as lead investigator on the recent string of deaths of the city’s drug dealers.
The role of Clark has previously appeared in Clear and Present Danger and The Sum of All Fears where he was played by Willem Dafoe and Liev Schreiber, respectively. Paramount is now reportedly eyeing a possible franchise revolving around Clark, but Jordan has only signed on for Without Remorse and Rainbow Six. A number of actors have been rumored to star in the latter film, including Ryan Reynolds. Sollima is rumored to be currently only attached to Remorse.
Sollima made his English language debut last year with Sicario: Day of the Soldado after directing a number of episodes for the Italian crime drama series Gomorrah, and 2015’s Suburra. It is believed that Jordan, who will also produce Remorse, is next on the actor’s agenda.
