‘Silence of The Lambs’ Sequel Series ‘Clarice’ Is Coming to CBS

Written by on January 12, 2020

Fans will get another peek into the world of Jodie Foster’s most iconic character, as CBS is set to move forward with a series centered around the life of Clarice Starling, following the events of The Silence of the Lambs.

Per Variety, Clarice is set in 1993, a year after The Silence of the Lambs takes place, and will follow Starling as she returns to her life as an FBI agent tracking serial murderers and sexual predators.

Alex Kurtzman, who wrote Transformers, Star Trek, and The Amazing Spider-Man 2, will executive produce and write the show alongside Jenny Lumet.

“After more than 20 years of silence, we’re privileged to give voice to one of America’s most enduring heroes—Clarice Starling,” Kurtzman and Lumet said in a statement. “Clarice’s bravery and complexity have always lit the way, even as her personal story remained in the dark. But hers is the very story we need today: her struggle, her resilience, her victory. Her time is now, and always.”

Jodie Foster‘s portrayal of the role in the 1991 film helped permanently embed Starling in the hearts and minds of audiences everywhereFoster received critical acclaim for her performance, winning an Academy Award for her work. No word yet on whether or not Foster or Anthony Hopkins, who portrayed Hannibal Lecter in the film, will appear in the show, but it’s highly unlikely.

As is always the case when a beloved character is set for a reimagining, people had thoughts, especially since Starling was reportedly going to appear in the NBC show Hannibal.

CBS did not unveil a release date for the show.
