Simon Porte’s Jacquemus Opens New Space in Selfridges Accessory Hall

Written by on August 8, 2022

Following the launch of its experiential Le Bleu collaboration with Selfridges, French fashion label Jacquemus has opened a new permanent shop-in-shop in the London retailer’s accessories hall.

An 860sq ft space set within the store’s monumental Duke Street façade, the boutique has been designed by Simon Porte Jacquemus and AMO, the research and design counterpart of the renowned architectural practice OMA. Clad in terracruda, which echos Jacquemus’ native Provence, the design of the space takes inspiration from the idea of testing the limits of working with a single material, and is packed with secret cabinets which reveal the label’s signature Chiquito, Bambino, Baneto, and Pichoto bags as well as a broad selection of other accessories.

Speaking on the news, Ellen van Loon, OMA Partner commented: “The inspiration for the design of the Jacquemus space owes to the brand’s origins in the south of France. We wanted to capture the atmosphere of Provence through the materiality of the space, which led us to approach the design in a different way altogether. Instead of working with form and deciding on the materials afterward, we chose the materials at the outset and let them guide the shape of the space.”

Check out some shots of the new space below and head down to Selfridges London to check it out for yourself.
