Solange Cancels 2 Australia Shows Due to ‘Health Reasons’

Written by on January 17, 2020

Solange has canceled two of her Sydney Opera House dates, citing “medical advice.”

The residency, as The Fader noted in their early Friday report, was set to include a run of four shows starting on Jan. 27. “Solange has made the difficult decision, for health reasons, to shorten her time in Sydney this month,” a statement on the official Sydney Opera House reads. “Due to the physical demands of the shows and having sought medical advice, the artist has decided to reduce the number of performances at the Opera House. As a result, the shows on Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 January 2020 will no longer take place, and will not be rescheduled.”

The statement, which was also emailed to ticket holders, also states that Solange “apologizes for any disappointment and looks forward to putting on the best shows possible for her Australian fans on the two remaining dates.” Those dates, Jan. 30 and Jan. 31, will “proceed as scheduled.”

Earlier this week, Solange was announced as one of the performers at the 2020 edition of the Governors Ball Music Festival in New York City. Tame Impala, Missy Elliott, Vampire Weekend, Miley Cyrus, Danny Brown, Nasty Cherry, and many more are also on the lineup.

In December, Solange shared the extended director’s cut of her performance art film When I Get Home. The new cut featured the previously unreleased track “Dreams (Demo/2).”
