Someone Made a Christmas Light Show for DMX’s “Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer”

DMX’s cover of “Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer” is old hat at this point. We’ve seen it, we’ve laughed. It’s in the past.
The only thing less tired than Earl’s growling take on the Christmas classic is folks doing the most and turning their house into a pulsating, flickering Christmas monster. But when you put the two together, they become something greater than the sum of their parts.
One overly competitive family with a soft spot for “Slippin’” went for it, reinvigorating both the rap cover of a Christmas song and the obnoxious light display genres in the process. Even a Grinch has to love it.
Pay special attention to the excellently done hype man. While the actual technical aspects of the show beyond the Zordon equivalent yelling “Come on!” are kind of lacking, you won’t find us complaining. At this point, we’ll take anything that isn’t by Trans-Siberian Orchestra or Pentatonix.
Now that they’ve blown the door open for the rest of us, it’s time to innovate on the form. Let’s get a little “Christmas In Harlem” (The sound of this track definitely blends better with the vibes of most house soundtracks). We’d like to see lights lazily flicking back and forth for Snoop Dogg’s G-Funk cult classic “Santa Claus Goes Straight To The Ghetto.” Throw down on “Christmas in Hollis” if you want to keep things G-rated for the Parade of Homes.
What we’re saying is, “Thank you, Dark Man Xmas House. And get to work, everyone else.”
