‘Star Wars’ Fans Are Campaigning for a Sequel to ‘Solo’

Written by on May 24, 2019

On Thursday, The Resistance Broadcast, a podcast dedicated to all things Star Wars, launched #MakeSolo2Happen Day to campaign for a sequel to Solo: A Star Wars Story.

With a respectable 70 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes, Solo wasn’t a critical failure, but after earning just $392 million worldwide, the film struggled to break even commercially, especially after a directorial change from Phil Lord and Chris Miller to Ron Howard led to a significant amount of reshoots, which doubled the project’s original budget.

The final product was a film that was fun and entertaining, but still had its faults. Like many movies before it, Solo has experienced something of revival on Blu-ray and Netflix with viewers developing a newfound appreciation for the flick and its characters—yes, even Alden Ehrenreich‘s portrayal of Han Solo

The #MakeSolo2Happen campaign has garnered significant attention, even getting a shoutout from Howard and a message from the film’s co-writer Jonathan Kasdan.
