Steph Curry Shares His Thoughts on Drake’s Sideline Antics Ahead of NBA Finals

Written by on May 28, 2019

As the son of NBA player Dell Curry, Steph Curry spent his youth in a lot of basketball cities, including Toronto, where his father finished out his playing career with the Raptors. Although he returned to Charlotte to finish his high school career, Curry has deep ties to Toronto, which will resurface when he squares off against the Raptors in this year’s NBA Finals.

“I spent sixth through eighth grade up there…I talked about it before, it’s always special going back up there. I still don’t think it’s sunk in this is for the Finals,” Curry said to the media on Monday. He also talked about the way in which Toronto exploded after making the Finals on Saturday.

Eventually, Curry was asked about his good friend Drake‘s sideline antics throughout the playoffs.

“It’s a bit entertaining,” Curry said. “It’s a tricky situation with him being right there on the court. But at the end of the day, he’s having fun. You can’t hate on nobody having fun.”

It’s safe to say that the Warriors match-up against the Raptors will complicate Curry’s relationship with the rapper. On his hit record, “0 to 100” Drake gifted Steph the moniker “Chef Curry” when he rapped “Been cookin’ with the sauce, Chef Curry with the pot” in the song’s first verse. And on the Views track “Still Here,” Drake sings “Hittin’ like a 30 on my jersey, man I’m gifted.” The bar resonated so well with Drake that he turned it into a tattoo.
