DaBaby‘s new studio album Blame It on Baby has arrived.
The project features a star-studded cast of artists that includes Future, Roddy Ricch, Quavo, Megan Thee Stallion, YoungBoy Never Broke Again, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, and Ashanti.
This album is the follow-up to DaBaby’s critically acclaimed project Kirk, which was released in September of 2019.
Hours before the release, DaBaby posted an Instagram video where he shed more light on each collaborative track. He explained why he recruited certain artists, his experience working with them, and shared a brief description of what they had in store. DaBaby was particularly excited about his joint with Megan Thee Stallion and his childhood crush Ashanti.
“I got a song with Ashanti and Megan Thee Stallion. A lot of people don’t know, and Ashanti ain’t even know… she used to be my girlfriend. No cap,” he said. “Back in, like ’04, ’05, swear to God.”
The Charlotte rapper announced the album on Tuesday, then on Wednesday dropped the tracklist and infomercial-styled promo video for the album called “1-800-Blame-It-on-Baby” where it prompted anyone with a major or minor inconvenience in their life to blame it on DaBaby.
Blame It on Baby notably arrives without any real notice from the artist, with his most recent single “Find My Way” being the most solo music we’ve heard from him since Kirk. DaBaby’s still been staying busy though, making guest appearances on several tracks including Lil Yachty’s single “Oprah’s Bank Account” with Drake, and enjoying his time self-quarantining by talking to Raven-Symoné on IG Live.
