Stream Solange’s New Album ‘When I Get Home’

Though it arrived a little later than expected, Solange‘s fourth studio album is officially here.
The singer-songwriter began teasing the effort, titled When I Get Home, in fall 2018, announcing it was in the final stages and set to drop before the year’s end.
“There is a lot of jazz at the core,” she told T Magazine about the project back in October. “But with electronic and hip-hop drum and bass because I want it to bang and make your trunk rattle.”
Unfortunately for fans, 2019 rolled around with no album in sight and no indications as to when it would arrive; however, that all changed this week, when Solange randomly directed fans to her page on BlackPlanet—the social networking site that has lost most of its steam over the last decade.
Solange’s BlackPlanet takeover sparked speculation that her fourth studio album was right around the corner. Those theories turned out to be correct. On Thursday, Solange shared the cover art for When I Get Home and confirmed it would hit streaming services at midnight Friday.
The 19-track project includes contributions by Playboi Carti, Panda Bear, Devin the Dude, The-Dream, and Tyler, the Creator, as well as samples from actress Phylicia Rashad, poet Pat Parker, Scarface, and more.
When I Get Home is said to be an album of exploration and a representation of “the next phase in Solange’s evolution as an artist.” It also serves as the follow-up to 2016’s critically acclaimed A Seat at the Table, which earned the artist her first Grammy nomination and win (Best R&B Performance for “Cranes in the Sky”).
In support of the album, Solange will present a special March 3 event that will take throughout Houston’s Third Ward. Learn more about the album experience here.
When I Get Home is available to purchase on iTunes, and can be streamed on Apple Music, iTunes, TIDAL, and more.
