A monkey known as being among the animals assembled for noted wildlife fan Swae Lee‘s understandably lavish offstage lifestyle has reportedly been seized.
California Department of Fish and Wildlife officials apparently informed The Blast Wednesday, that the Rae Sremmurd member’s Chatsworth residence was visited by authorities, at which point a spider monkey was taken. The report adds that no citations were issued and that it was unconfirmed whether Lee was on the property at the time, though that’s unlikely given the SremmLife duo’s hectic tour schedule, not to mention Lee’s most recent Instagram Story updates.
It’s also not clear if this is the same spider monkey, Lil G, who was mentioned in a 2018 Rolling Stone profile on Sremmurd’s third album SR3MM. At the time, Lil G was reported as having cost Lee an estimated $20,000 and was only a few months old. Another monkey, a baby Capuchin named Naya, is also mentioned, as are Lee’s two dogs and a pair of mini-pigs.
News of Lee’s spider monkey reportedly being seized arrives as part of an update on a similar operation that went down at a property owned by Mally Mall, during which a Serval cat was reportedly taken by authorities. The warrant issued on Mall’s property, according to comments from LAPD given to the Los Angeles Daily News, was part of a joint investigation that also included allegations of human trafficking. Mall and his legal team, however, have denied those allegations.
