SZA’s ‘SOS’ Remains at No. 1 on Billboard 200 for Fifth Consecutive Week

SZA continues her reign atop the Billboard 200 chart, as the R&B superstar’s sophomore LP SOS earned 125,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in the week ending Jan. 12, Billboard reports.

SZA’s latest album is the first LP to spend its first five weeks at No. 1 since Adele’s 30, which ruled the chart for six weeks from Dec. 4, 2021 to Jan. 8, 2022. The last female artist to see her R&B album notch five weeks at No. 1 was Mariah Carey, who accomplished the feat with 1995’s Daydream. which spent six nonconsecutive weeks atop the Billboard 200. Meanwhile, the last R&B album by a female artist that spent its first five weeks at No. 1 was Janet Jackson’s 1993 offering Janet.

Taylor Swift’s latest full-length offering, Midnights, held steady at No. 2 on the strength of 81,000 album equivalent units. Rounding out the rest of the Top 5 are Metro Boomin’s Heroes & Villains, which slots in at No. 3 with 57,000 equivalent album units earned, Drake and 21 Savage’s joint effort Her Loss, which comes in at No. 4 with 51,000 units, and Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti, which spends another week in the Top 5 on the strength of 45,000 equivalent album units.

Elsewhere on the Billboard 200 this week, YoungBoy Never Broke Again earns his 13th top 10-project with I Rest My Case, which debuted at No. 9.
