T-Pain Confirms ‘T-Wayne 2’ Project With Lil Wayne Will Happen

T-Pain revealed in an interview with Ebro Darden on Apple Music that he and Lil Wayne will release a follow-up to their 2017 collab project T-Wayne. “We’re definitely about to do a T-Wayne 2, no question,” Pain said around the 8:10 mark. “I got a ton of hooks lined up already that I’m about to send Wayne, and that’s just how we do it.”
The release of T-Wayne came at a time when Tha Carter V was stuck in limbo as the rapper and Cash Money Records were involved in a lengthy contractual dispute over withheld money from Tha Carter IV. Even though C5 was eventually released last year, T-Pain sympathized with Wayne’s struggle, and was willing to take whatever came his way legally to ensure that the masses received their free collab effort.
“Part of that is why I released the T-Wayne project,” Pain said. “Because he was going through so much, and he wasn’t able to put out music, I’m like, ‘Bro, I’ll take it. Tell them to sue me!”
“But that whole thing he was going through with the Carter V and all the Cash Money, I was just like, man, this man doesn’t deserve that,” he continued. “I was willing to take whatever I was gonna get for that. That was my contribution to the music industry.”
On Wednesday, T-Pain dropped his surprise project 1UP, his first studio album in two years. The release came hours after being named the winner of Fox’s The Masked Singer.
