Tekashi 6ix9ine’s Former Manager Kifano “Shotti” Jordan Needs a New Lawyer

Written by on December 24, 2018

Kifano “Shotti” Jordan, 6ix9ine‘s former manager, is parting ways with his attorney.

In court documents obtained by Complex, attorney Scott E. Leemon requested to be relieved of counsel for Shotti. Leemon, in a letter to Judge Paul A. Engelmayer, said that he only made his initial Nov. 26 court appearance with his now-former client after Shotti and his family “assured” him that a retainer fee would be paid that week.

“That never happened,” Leemon said. “It has now been several weeks since that appearance and I still have not received payment.” Leemon added that he was later informed by someone in Shotti’s family that funds were presently being raised ahead of plans to pursue new representation. Since then, Leemon has met with Shotti to tell him that he was seeking to be relieved. Per Leemon, Shotti has not objected.

Both 6ix9ine and Shotti were among those arrested in November on racketeering and firearms charges following a years-long investigation conducted by NYPD, ATF, and DHS officials. 6ix9ine’s 2015 use of a child in a sexual performance case was subsequently dropped due to his current incarceration getting in the way of finishing up the resulting probation.

The New York rapper’s trial is set to begin next September. Per the most recent comments from his attorney, 6ix9ine is expected to skip out on any plea deals. That option, attorney Lance Lazzaro told TMZ earlier this month, is “simply off the table.”

Following his arrest, 6ix9ine’s debut studio album DUMMY BOY was briefly postponed before eventually being released to lackluster reviews and debated sales numbers.
