Terrell Owens on Donovan McNabb Saying He Broke Up Eagles: ‘I Can’t Wait 2 Tell My Story’

Written by on January 23, 2020

It was a promising sign of great things to come when Donovan McNabb and Terrell Owens played together in their first season with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2004. Despite their 24-21 loss to the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXIX, the Eagles appeared destined for a return to the promised land very soon, as long as their core talent could stay together.

After his second season with the Eagles, Owens was gone. So what went wrong? Well, that depends on who you ask. In his appearance on Bleacher Report’s Untold Stories, McNabb put the blame squarely on the shoulders of T.O., claiming that his “unbelievable” behavior during the ensuing training camp turned out to be “something that kinda broke us up.”

“That was the most frustrating for me because I knew what we could do, and if we decided to just come together, what we’d able to accomplish,” McNabb said. Owens didn’t appreciate McNabb’s accusation, and looked forward to the day that he could tell his side of the story.

T.O. even teased us with a little info about McNabb allegedly vouching for the Eagles to give an extension to running back Brian Westbrook over him amid their respective contract disputes.

Owens was released by the Eagles in 2006 after just two seasons with the team where he played in only 21 games.
