Texas Gunman Arrested After Allegedly Saying He Was Headed to Church to Fulfill ‘Prophecy’

Written by on December 31, 2018

Tony Dwayne Albert II was arrested Sunday morning in Seguin, Texas after allegedly admitting that he was headed to an unknown church to “fulfill what he called a prophecy,” according to San Antonio-based ABC affiliate KSAT. Authorities were alerted about Albert when a witness spotted him at around 7 a.m. carrying a gun on the street. The first person to respond was an off-duty officer, who described the 33-year-old as “wearing tactical-style clothing, a surgical face shield, carrying a loaded firearm and extra ammunition.”

“We’re extremely grateful (for the person who called 911), and I know the citizens of Seguin are (grateful), regardless of if he thought he was somewhere else,” Seguin police spokeswoman Tanya Brown said. “(Albert) could have carried out a shooting, or he was capable of doing that because he had a loaded handgun.”

Albert reportedly told the off-duty cop that he thought he was in another city when the two spoke with one another. Information regarding his intended destination is being withheld from the public since the investigation is ongoing. “Since we don’t have information about a specific location or church, we want to be cautious, because we don’t want to scare people,” Brown said.

Albert has been charged with possession of marijuana and being a felon in possession of a firearm. He is being held on a $100,000 bail. The Texas Rangers, FBI and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives have been called to assist in the investigation.
