The First Week Numbers for Dreamville’s ‘Revenge of the Dreamers III’ Are In

Written by on July 15, 2019

Dreamville’s Revenge of the Dreamers III will debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart, narrowly exceeding its first-week projections

With 115,000 equivalent album units—23,000 of which came from album sales—Dreamers III more than doubled the sales of Billie Eilish’s WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?, which finished in second with 50,000 equivalent album units. Indigo by Chris Brown slid from first to third in its second week with just under 50,000 units.

Dreamers III easily outperformed Revenge of the Dreamers II, which peaked at No. 29. Meanwhile, the imprint’s first compilation in the series didn’t even chart. It’s a monumental feat for the collaborative project that grouped 34 artists with 27 producers in Atlanta’s Tree Sound Studios for a 10-day recording session to create what ultimately became an 18-song project.

The project was spearheaded by Dreamville founder J. Cole, who wanted to work outside of his comfort zone, and collaborate with artists outside of his own label that he admired. “When I meet other artists in the game, I really do fuck with them and have great conversations with them,” Cole admits in the documentary Revenge. “But the outside world don’t know that, because I’m so secluded in a sense. And I realized that.”

Meanwhile, Machine Gun Kelly notched his fourth top 10 album with Hotel Diablo, which debuted at No. 5.
